This past week, a mother died of a broken heart.
Eighteen months ago, her beloved son made a decision: he took his own life.
Less than eighteen months later, his mother’s.
For a lifetime, she had bravely turned a life of sorrow into art.
And yet… even an Irish warrior has her limits. Losing him was hers.

Thank you, Sinéad O’Connor, for setting the bar high for what it means to be a courageous artist. Thank you for the music.

There’s so much to say about Sinéad’s legacy, maybe another time. Today, all that matters is a wounded fellow human being has climbed the ladder over the fence that keeps us here. For her sake, I hope she finds the peace she went in search of.
